PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY:

Choosing the correct UCS/Spirit vaulting pole (or any vaulting pole) is essential. Therefore, you are strongly urged to follow these simple rules as described by UCS/Spirit and USA Track & Field’s Olympic and National Pole Vault Development Committees.

  1. Never vault without supervision.
  2. Never use a pole that is rated below your weight.
  3. Always place your top hand between 18" and 6" from the top of the pole.
  4. Always strive for an efficient take-off to land safely in the middle of the pit. (Make sure your take-off foot is in the center of the runway, below your fully extended torso, and then accelerate through the take-off.)
  5. If you don’t "penetrate" well into and over the landing area, eithet: (1)Use a softer pole or (2)Lower your grip using a shorter pole.
  6. If you "penetrate" too deep into the landing, either: (1)Use a stiffer pole or (2)Raise your grip using a longer pole.
