PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING
CAREFULLY:
Choosing the correct UCS/Spirit
vaulting pole (or any vaulting pole) is essential. Therefore, you
are strongly urged to follow these simple rules as described by
UCS/Spirit and USA Track & Field’s Olympic and National Pole
Vault Development Committees.
- Never vault without supervision.
- Never use a pole that is rated below your weight.
- Always place your top hand between 18" and 6" from the top of
the pole.
- Always strive for an efficient take-off to land safely in the
middle of the pit. (Make sure your take-off foot is in the center
of the runway, below your fully extended torso, and then
accelerate through the take-off.)
- If you don’t "penetrate" well into and over the landing area,
eithet: (1)Use a softer pole or (2)Lower your grip using a shorter
pole.
- If you "penetrate" too deep into the landing, either: (1)Use a
stiffer pole or (2)Raise your grip using a longer
pole.
